Market Requirements for PVB in Food Packaging Inks

Ordinary industrial PVB contains heavy metal residues, free aldehydes and volatile impurities that cannot be used for food contact scenarios. PVB applied in food packaging inks faces three core sets of requirements:

  1. Food contact compliance: Low heavy metal content, low residual butyraldehyde, and no harmful extractables, to satisfy GB, FDA and EU food contact material regulations.
  2. Ink formulation compatibility: Good solubility in ethanol and mixed alcohol solvents. It disperses organic and inorganic pigments evenly, avoids flocculation, and provides stable ink viscosity during long production runs.
